Well, hello there tail-end of Summer. We are kicking your ass.
It was a good weekend for WWAB. It didn’t start out terribly auspiciously as we beat our heads against Sindy for most of Friday night to no avail. After our very close attempts the previous week, it was horrible to never see anything better than 13% before another wipe.
Wipe. Wipe. Wipe.
OMG USE SOME AWARENESS AND STOP ENTOMBING EACH OTHER!
Wipe. Wipe. Wipe.
But we are nothing if not stubborn, so we headed back in on Saturday night. The group was a bit different and we thought we might as well give it a few more goes before backtracking to the blood quarter, which we hadn’t even bothered to touch in our eagerness to get Sindy down.
And then the magic happened. We got into the rhythm and no one died to some act of stupid. Our healadins were cheating in the way they do with their bacon hax and there was nothing but clear, concise communication about who needed to do what.
Sindy died.
I swore in shock.
Only some leather stuff dropped – with only the one leather-wearer in there who only wanted the offspec gear.
After screenshots, which I failed to get edited and on a flash drive for being at work, we moved on and downed the Twilight Sparkle Party, but that wasn’t without some truly stupid mistakes. Then we went and looked at BQL – whereupon we all sort of shuffled around a bit and had to admit that none of us really remembered a whole lot about this fight since we’d only done it the one night and hadn’t ever bothered to come and do it again because, y’know, Dreamwalker and Sindy needed to live and die respectively.
It was late at that point, so we put in a few refresher tries, did not down her and called it a night. Next week we’ll get her and take our first look at Lichy Poo.
Then we might be lucky to pull raids together for a few weeks, so well played, tail-end of Summer. You may have the last laugh after all.
Now that we’re 11/12
It feels odd to type that. With this expansion clearly on its last legs, we are finally at a point where we’ll get to do what we’ve all been wanting to do ever since Northrend was fresh and new: look at – and attempt to kill – the Lich King. And only now are we starting to get a second ICC group going for those people we’ve acquired or who have finally leveled to 80 - only now are we really starting to take our own alts in for fun and profit.
Last night and tonight will be the first time we’ve ever seriously taken that second group in with the intent to do more than the first four bosses. In fact, we got through Festergut last night with a minimum of fuss and a few attempts on Rotface that didn’t go so well. There’s a number of people just learning to manage those oozes and the rest of us are somewhat lost in trying to do a new role.
I do not make a good disc priest. At all. But I do not have any geared DPS classes other than my main, which is rather pathetic given that I have seven 80′s.
Anyway, I thought it was a good start and am hoping that tonight’s continuation will see some more progress. It’s exciting to be getting back to a point where there’s more people interested in raiding and I think that excitement could carry us through the rest of Wrath and put us in a good position for Cata.
Random Lowbie Update
I’ve been playing the warrior and hunter quite a bit recently. The hunter is nearly 69 and will be headed to Northrend with At’s warrior. Meanwhile, my warrior is 74 and has been tanking instances for At’s warlock about every other day. I am feeling much more comfortable with my warrior and have been playing her enough that when I was obliged to tank a heroic for the guild on my paladin I was in a state of dire confusion, wondering where my charge and shield slam and thunderclap had gotten to.
I’m still in shock over the stray thought that I liked the warrior better than the paladin. That is not anything I ever saw coming and will likely not end up being true in the long run. But between the two, I am getting used to being in the thick of things and might someday have the confidence that I can perform well enough in any role to get by and be an asset instead of just an asshat.
Hope everyone out there had a good weekend, whether they were in or out of Azeroth!

I <3 my warrior tank, now level 76! I just wish that shield would drop from VH.
I am leveling my BS as I level (pretty much ignoring most quests, just dungeons and BS), and there is some beautiful tanking gear to be had as you level. I'll try to send you some more of the crap that I make for skill-ups.
Warrior aoe tanking is crazy fun. Charge>TS>position everyone>Shockwave>Shield Slam>TS>switch to lowest-threat target>Devastate>Shield Slam>Revenge>HS>TS
I told you – our guild doesn't get shields! Until we do. The SS Lolship shield dropped again last night for our raiders and alts.
Yeah, there is a lot of nice tanking gear to be crafted, as I learned when Alleluia leveled through it and used a great deal of it. You'll have to let me know if I can help with anything since I will be getting the extras (for which I thank you!).
And, uh, my rotation looks more like frantic keyboard pounding but I manage to hold threat (as long as I've put Vigilance on At's lock) so it must be working. :D
Grats!!
"Your pathetic magic has OW. OUUUUCH OOW HURRRRK" *dead*.
And I should hope you did swear. Sindy deserves a curse or two.
For BQL, we had plenty of fun setting up a bite order only for her queeniness to zip across the room and nibble on a hunter (no! bad queenie!). I'm such a colossal dork that I open a notepad window on my second screen and, in 72pt type, write the names of the people I'm supposed to bite. Most people probably aren't that dozy but I find it helps when the panic sets in.
Then again, I have also been know to write "Fanatics" or "Adherents" in the same notepad window for the Lady Deathwhisper fight so…yeah.
Hah – I have several people in my guild who need to write L and R on their hands or on sticky notes they put on either side of their monitor because they can't recall in the heat of the moment which is left and which is right. We still tease Holly the Cheery Canadian about the time she announced she was going to pull the left group first before promptly charging off in a rightwise direction – "Canadian Left" we call it.
But hey, whatever works. As long as it gets done correctly, I don't think anyone cares what methods are employed to make it so.
Grats on the Sindy kill. Go go kill some Lich King. There’s an add-on you can use to set up bite priority on Blood Queen that should make her an easy kill. I forget the name, but it works well.
My warrior is in the mid 60′s and prolly won’t get much play time, but the differences between all the tanking classes is quite unique and makes for fun.
Side note: in mobil view I can’t see or post comments. Nit sure if it’s your end or mine or if anyone else has this problem
Wahey, grats on Sindy :D We tried for ages to get her down, and it was such a relief when we did. And then I lost out on the lovely spellpower shield *mumble* *grumble*
Still, we had a few weeks of bashing our heads against the brickwall that is the Lich King before Some Drama happened and I lost interest in raiding.
So I levelled my prot warrior and it's great fun :D My ICC-geared DK tank was quite fun to play (as DW frost, less so as blood), but warrioring is a whole nother level – much more fun!
FEAR MY SPIKY GREEN PINBALL OF DOOM
Many thanks – it was a big moment for us. :D My husband was disappointed that the shield didn't drop at all, but hopefully now that we've got her once we'll be able to kill her again without too many problems.
I am personally as anti-DK now as I used to be anti-warrior. Maybe someday I'll find some fun in the DK class and learn to like it for what it is. It only took four years or so for me to learn to like the warrior, so I don't expect a change in heart any time soon. I also need to learn to like rogues… hmm.
How's M&G doing in ICC, btw?
I know of the bite addon, but since we do have an entire minute between bites to make sure people know who they are supposed to bite and are able to get situated to do so, I think we can get by without it. Our problem was mostly lateness (slow reaction times) and having two healadins. A disc priest would have been helpful there. Or anything with more AoE heals really.
And I will try to see what I might do about the mobile view problems. It might be this new theme….
Ooh! Grats! HAving experienced it not so long ago, it's a fantastic feeling when she finally goes down! Lichypants, here we come!!
Thanks! I'm excited to finally get to go poke him in the eye. Sure, we'll die, but I've been wanting to hit him ever since he killed the spirit me back in Howling Fjord at the beginning of the xpac. :P
